Ronald A Hill Memorial VFW Post 2245 received its Charter on December 12, 1972. Ron Hill was the first resident of Grayslake KIA in Viet Nam. Our Post honors his memory and service.
Our members range from age 23 as the youngest to 96 as the most "seasoned" Every branch of the military is represented in our Post except the Coast Guard. (We would welcome an eligible Coast Guard service member or veteran)
The VFW has been responsible for every quality of life program in this century and last for veterans, servicemembers and their families
VFW Service Officers have helped Veterans secure over $7.7 Billion in earned VA benefits, that includes over $1.2 BILLION in new claims in 2017.
VFW Posts contribute nearly 50 million dollars annually to support veterans community service projects.
VFW & Auxiliary members contribute nearly 9 million volunteer hours annually With the support of Burger King, over the past 13 years, nearly 7 1/2 million dollars has helped nearly 4300 service members and veterans UNMET NEEDS Grants.
Locally, VFW Posts in Northeastern Illinois for the last 50 years have provided Christmas Cheer to veterans and service members at James A Lovell FHCC. Many volunteer hours and over $12,000.00 in donations from VFW Posts, local business supplied needed items to bring Holiday Cheer to the patients at Lovell FHCC.
Does your son's or daughter's middle school, high school participate in Patriot's Pen Essay contest for middle school students grades 6-8, and Voice of Democracy Audio Speech Scholarship program? Each year, the VFW awards over 3.3 Million dollars to the 170,000 students. The National Voice of Democracy winner receives a $30,000.00 Scholarship.
